It looks like Joker is obviously happening…so deal with it.
WB has issued a press release to confirm the start of production for Todd Philips’ Joker. We also get a confirmation that Joaquin Phoenix character will be called Arthur Fleck.
The press release also confirms the Brett Cullen involvement in the movie as Thomas Wayne. The other cast members listed are Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
Warner Bros. describes the movie as follows:
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Behind the scenes, the movie is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner with Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner and Bruce Berman.
Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (The Hangover), production designer Mark Friedberg (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), editor Jeff Groth (The Hangover), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (The Artist).
The movie is set for release October 4, 2019.
