There’s been a lot of speculation about Idris Elba’s role in The Suicide Squad, but a new report claims to shed some light on which comic book villain he’ll be playing in the movie. Continue reading to know more…

James Gunn recently revealed the full cast for The Suicide Squad, and a new rumour may now shed some light on who Idris Elba will be playing. While it was initially reported that he would replace Will Smith as Deadshot, plans changed, and it was later confirmed that the British actor would be taking on the role of a completely different character.

While there’s been a lot of speculation that Elba would play Bronze Tiger, our friends over at The Weekly Planet Podcast claim that he will instead be taking on the role of Vigilante.

A number of characters have suited up as Vigilante over the years, and Arrow fans will remember that it was Vincent Sobel who donned the mask in that series not too long ago. However, the most recent version in the comics is Donald Fairchild, a former basketball player who took on the moniker to fight crime. Presumably, that is who Elba would be playing.

The YouTube channel’s source also claims that Nathan Fillion will star as Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, while we’ll also see Sean Gunn as Weasel, Flula Borg as Javelin, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Michael Rooker as Savant, and Mayling Ng as Mongal.

If true, Gunn is definitely turning to some pretty obscure comic books for his Task Force X.
